Fred & Svetlana Kimbrough worked in the professional theatre for many years before moving back to Fred’s home town in Gilbertown. While in New York they worked in all phases of the theatre. They are members of all five of the actors unions: Actors Equity, SAG, AGMA, AGVA & AFTRA. They have studied with the most prominent teachers there in acting, dance and voice.

Fred & Svetlana have credits as actor, dancer, singer, director and choreographer in movies, television and on Broadway. Fred has worked for and or assisted such notable directors & choreographers as Gower Champion, Donald Sadler, Christopher Hewett, Joshua Logan & Michael Kidd to name a few.

Since 1980 they have been the director and artistic director of the Ballet & Theatre Arts Performing Companies. Each year they produce, direct and choreograph at least 4 major shows. Fred also plays roles in many of these productions when a suitable actor is not available. Many friends from New York have come down to star in these productions at little or no cost to BTAPC.

The Kimbroughs not only teach and produce shows in Gilbertown, but are reaching out in an ever-widening circle in order to get as many people as possible involved in the performing arts. They teach in several towns in the area, and BTAPC has also produced shows in many of them. All these activities plus their speaking and guest artist engagements keep them very active. They are constantly promoting the arts in this southwest Alabama - southeast Mississippi area.

Fred received the Governers Arts Award for 2001
